Tang Qizhu, male, from Songzi, Hubei Province, was born in August 1963. He started his career in July 1986 and now he is the member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of Wuhan University and vice president of WHU, a professor, a chief physician and a doctoral supervisor.

He got his bachelor’s degree in medicine in Hubei Medical University from September 1981 to July 1986, then he worked as physician of First Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Medical University from July 1986 to August 1988. He came back for his master’s degree study from September 1988 to July 1991. From July 1991 to April 1995, he was the resident physician and attending physician of the Department of Cardiology, First Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Medical University. From April 1995 to July 1997, he served as deputy director of the Department of Cardiology and Secretary of CPC committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Medical University (during this period: in October 1995, he served as associate professor and deputy chief physician). Then he took position as the member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party and Vice President of First Affiliated Hospital of Hubei Medical University from August 1997 to August 2000. (During this period, he studied in the 10th Middle Youth Class of the National Institute of Advanced Education Administration, and he was appointed as Chief Physician in March 1999) From August 2000 to April 2005, he served as member of the Standing Committee and Vice President of the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University (during the period: from September 2000 to July 2003, he was a doctoral student of internal science at Wuhan University, and was hired as a professor in January 2001. Selected as a doctoral tutor in 2004, he studied at the EMBA of China Center for Economic Research of Peking University and obtained a master's degree in business administration from September 2004 to July 2007.) The nine years from 2005 to 2014 witnessed his position as vice president and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. From May 2006 to present, he served as the first secretary of the Party Committee of the Reserve Army Anti-aircraft Artillery Division Hospital of Hubei Province, and was awarded the rank of reserve colonel. In July 2013, he was promoted to the rank of reserve senior colonel. He served as President and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from June 2014 to November 2016, and has maintained his position as President since then. In October 2018, he was appointed as member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party and Vice President of WHU.

Tang is the author of more than 220 academic papers (including more than 90 SCI), who also won the first prize of provincial scientific and technological progress, participated in 7 completed national or provincial science and technology awards, was the editor-in-chief of 7 monographs, and co-edited in 22 books. He has presided over 13 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including key projects and national key research and development projects. Additionally, he has been awarded the special government allowance of the State Council and the National May 1st Labour Medal. He was awarded the model worker of Hubei Province, the advanced individual of the national defence mobilization in the Guangzhou Theatre/ South China War Zone, the young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contribution from the Ministry of Health, and he was named among the “Millions of Talent Projects National candidates” national-level candidate and Millions of Project Leaders in the Central "Ten Thousand Plan".
Professional Affiliations: Executive member of the Ninth Council of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering; Deputy Director of the First and Second Committees of the National Physician Association for Heart Failure; President of the 6th Council of Hubei Province Biomedical Engineering Society; Vice President of the Third Council of Hubei Provincial Medical Doctors Association; Standing Committee Member of the Seventh Committee of the Cardiovascular Branch of Hubei Medical Association.
